Her: I’m a kaleidoscope of emotions and color.
Him: So you’re beautiful.
And it hit her.
She is beautiful. Not because he said so. It reminded her that she is beautiful for so much more than he knew.
Because he only saw a tiny fraction of what she was. Her insatiable desire to be outside and a love for adventure. Her ability to be wildly direct and that breaking the rules turns her all the way on. It’s not his fault that that’s all that he knows. She didn’t share anymore.
But his truth, his perspective of her, woke her up to all she had stopped seeing.
She's uncontrollable giggles at her own jokes.
She’s dirty feet from a summer of feeling the grass between her toes.
She’s tear-stained cheeks and puffy eyes from letting it all go and then letting it go some more.
She’s relentless determination to create the life she dreams of, no matter how many times she falls.
She’s got her head in the clouds and trying to find her feet on the ground.
She’s rarely one or the other, she’s this and that.
She’s too many lavender lemonades, a long warm hug, and a campfire with her favorite people.
She’s childlike wonder swinging on the swings.
She’s slowly shedding old fears and stories like a tree sheds its leaves to be reborn again.
She’s limitless power that scares her just a little bit. Or maybe a whole lot.
She’s a safe space, a guiding eye to help you see.
She’s beauty and sadness. Fear and bravery. Mess and glory. Silly and real. Love and fire. Rain and calm.
She’s light and dark, the sun and the moon, illuminating her path and yours like a lighthouse in a hurricane.
She’s everything and she’s nothing.
She’s then. She’s here. She’s there..
She’s a kaleidoscope of emotion and color.
I feel deeply that this poem is about my wild spirit too
